In Iowa last week, about 40,000 shovelnose sturgeon were found dead, which also brought about a $10 million loss in caviar sales.  So many fish also died in Powerton Lake near the central Illinois city of Peoria that they clogged the water intake for a nearby power plant.  Operators were forced to shut down the plant, because they couldn't take in enough water to cool it down, reported Time Newsfeed.
